Although he lacks classical training, growing up on a family-owned mining ship has made checking filters, valves, and connections second nature to Henry.
His upbringing and younger days as a slingshot racer have left their mark in the form of maneuvering prowess and stamina in high-Gs.
As a Belter, Henry stands a little over 2m tall. He also has a slightly enlarged cranium. He has traditional Belter tatuyingi on his neck and face, brown hair, and a deep red beard. He also has piercings in both ears.
Noam is quiet, and an over-thinker. He can be quite cynical, but has a soft spot for women and children. He possesses an extraordinarily logical mind, but can be prone to nervousness, even paranoia. This causes him to plan every move meticulously. What might look like a hail mary death wish maneuver, is actually a well-executed design.
Henry Noam was born on Ceres, but like many Belter children, he spent his life on ships. His mother and uncles owned a small ice hauler, but it was before the unions, and things were even harder. His father died as a result of the harsh conditions in the Belt when he was six. As he grew up, he began to take on more and more responsibility on his mother's boat, but the scarce pay and strenuous workload made Henry ever-vigilant for ways to make more money and get off the skiff. As a teenager, he became friends with Damian Slavko, an older boy whose father was an OPA radical and known criminal. Slavko was involved in numerous little rackets and con jobs around Ceres, and Henry fell into the same. Damian was an extremely charismatic young man, well loved by his peers and elders alike, while Henry was reserved and cautious. Nonetheless they became fast friends, with Slavko tutoring Henry in crime, and Henry teaching Damian about ships. When Henry was 18 and about to graduate, his mother died, leaving his ice hauler to Henry. Immediately, the two boys saw the opportunity--they sold the ice hauler for a racing pinnace named the Durango, and began entering races across the solar system. Henry's skill as a pilot (and Slavko's willingness to bend the rules) proved useful, and they often won. In between races, they started contracting with OPA to run guns and drugs between Eros, Ceres, and Pallas, which is where they made most of their living. As the contracts began to increase, the races became less frequent; Henry found himself outrunning PDC rounds more often than other pilots. As business picked up, they hired more crew and added cargo holds and weaponry to the ship, which allowed them to journey into piracy. Today, the Durango is Henry's personal yacht. He now pilots the Kanyari under contract for New Providence Station.
