As per the Reddit post by Vaiowega on The Expanse Reddit:

The ratings of the season 3 premiere are an improvement over last season's average, but those numbers - even if they stay stable and don't drop during the season - are far from guaranteeing a renewal.

We mustn't wait for potential bad news to start pushing for renewal. The more presence the show has, the more recognition and new viewers it will gain. We need to keep it under the spotlight as often and as long as possible and convince more people to watch.

There are a lot of people who would certainly enjoy the show still haven't given it a try because they underestimate or haven't even heard enough of it.

Here's what will definitely help the show a great deal:

    • If you live in US/Canada and have cable, watch it live!!
It goes without saying, but if you can watch the broadcast on Syfy/Space on wednesdays 9/8c, then do it, even if you're already recording it, because it allows you to help it trend on social media by reacting about it around the time it's airing.

Record the show and watch it later too. Syfy do get data about the number of people who record a show and then watch it, irrespective of the Nielsen system (the standard ratings system). That means Syfy also pay close attention to same day, +3days and +7days viewings, both recorded on TV and online, so watch it as soon as possible.

If you're a Nielsen home, please, you must absolutely take control of the remote when The Expanse is on air and turn the TV on at all costs. One single TV in a Nielsen home represents thousands of viewers in ratings (and it takes account of what's on each TV if there are more than one).

    • If you live in US/Canada but don't have cable, buy the season pass!!
If you're a cordcutter in North-America without access to Syfy, please buy the season pass, don't pirate the show. Digital sales have a huge importance in the equation for ALCON, who owns the show.

    • Spread the word on social media.
Make noise on Twitter on the day of broadcast and the day after. Use the hashtags #TheExpanse and #RenewTheExpanse everytime you post/comment/retweet something about the show, on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and everywhere else, make sure people see the name of the show. We have to make it trend as often and as long as possible, especially around the time it's on air.

Livetweet when a new episode is airing and don't forget the hashtags. This is currently the best way to help the show because it's very easily measurable and can reach a lot of people, this kind of "power hour" was essential in the renewal/saving of many shows.

Make noise on Twitter on the day of broadcast and the day after.

    Follow/retweet the following twitter accounts related to the show: @ExpanseSYFY, @ExpanseWR, the actors (@Casanvar, @weschatham, @Mi55Tipper, @nicktarabay, @theterrychen, @SAghdashloo, @CaraGeeeee, @ChadLColeman, @Shawndoyle, @EliasToufexis, @AndrewRotilio, @AnnaBananaHops, @Byron_Mann) and staff (@ExpanseVFX, @JamesSACorey, @narenshankar, @glentonrich, @georgiaslee, @liberalhamlet, @AbrahamHanover, @Breck_Eisner, @Phangvantageous, @broberts76, @roddeos, ...).

You can also try to ride the wave of popular hashtags by combining those with #RenewTheExpanse and mention it in other threads about space, science-fiction, actors, technologies, other tv shows... Also vote for the show in any polls you encounter (and share them).

    • Rate/review The Expanse anywhere you can.
Rate (and/or review) the show, individual seasons and episodes everywhere you can, create an account if you have to (you only need a random functional e-mail account). First of all, do it on aggregators like IMDB, RottenTomatoes and Metacritic, but also on amazon, itunes, google, microsoft, playstation...

Same goes with the popular equivalent in other languages (Allociné/SensCritique/Spin-off for french audience, for example).

By doing that, it will help the show trend on these websites too, ensuring its presence in weekly/monthly rankings and recommendations, which are often displayed on the front page.

Here's everything else you can do to spread the word even more:

    • Promote fanmade content.
Listen/subscribe to reviews (podcasts and youtube videos) to convince them to continue.

List of all podcasts and youtube channels covering The Expanse

Not everyone has the skills or time to create content (articles, podcast, fan art, wallpapers, videos, reviews, funny stuff, whatever) but what anyone can do is promote it by sharing it and liking/commenting, even follow them on twitter or subscribe to their page (youtube, patreon, whatever).

    • Post in other online communities you're part of.
Most boards have general/offtopic/entertainment sections so if you're active on one, don't hesitate to post a well-crafted thread there where viewers can discuss the show and eventually get more people interested.

You can also casually try talking about the show on chats, twitch or discords, anywhere you think you can reach people who might have an itch The Expanse could scratch.

    • Word-of-mouth & proselytism
Show a few eyecandies to appeal to people's curiosity (trailer, sneak peek, fanmade video, anything visual you can share easily) when trying to get new people to watch the show, especially if they might be a little bit outside of the target audience.

Focus on the show's strong points that will work best with the person (high production quality, awesome original material, top notch VFX, space opera, science realism, diversity...).

Compare the show to mainstream popular franchises they like (Game of Thrones, BattleStar, Blade Runner, Mass Effect, The Martian...).

You can also try to carefully undermine or disprove any reservation or prejudice they might already have about the show (aired by Syfy, season one pacing, unproven actors in main roles, inequal VFX, too complicated story).

Don't forget to tell them how they can catch up with the show!
