It was a bit of shock to have Tobias look right at him and then actually say it was a nice thing. It perked him up a bit. "Thanks man" but his mood wasn't long changing.

Krzysztof tried not to groan aloud as Surraya pointedly reminded them of the next item on the agenda. There was no getting out of it. Tobi perked up at the very mention of the word, like he'd forgotten about it. He grabbed hold of Krzy again and just for good measure, threw an arm around Surraya, forcing them towards the dancefloor. "That doesn't quite make sense Tobi-" he tried to point out but the marine was past listening to reason. Besides, he was outnumbered and outvoted.

Dancing in the way that Tobias had in mind would be rather awkward and more than a little difficult in the elegant evening gown that Surraya was wearing; but she figured that she could make it work. Besides, both men were probably entirely too drunk to even remember her face at this point. So what was the harm in it?

She laughed as Tobi pulled her and Krzy out towards the dance floor, insisting that they dance in the name of patriotism. An odd thing to dance for, but she was hardly one to argue. The pilot loved to dance. It was a wonderful way for people to cut loose and just enjoy themselves. Nothing was really expected of you, and none of it had to follow you off the floor. You just left everything that you wanted to express right there in the moment.

Krzy was still protesting ruefully, not wanting to participate in the least. Which made sense, he was clearly the more reserved marine out of the pair. There was also something else about him, a sort of sadness or wariness in his eyes, the way that he carried himself. He had seen something that had shaken him, or at the very least, unsettled him. Dragging him out into a situation that he wasn't comfortable with - like dancing - could either be therapeutic for him, or leave him a nervous wreck. She hoped that he'd enjoy his time.

She reached out to the quiet marine and took his hand, grinning reassuringly as she winked up at him. "Don't worry so much."

"YOU DON'T MAKE SENSE!" His voice barely echoed over the blaring music even as he screamed.

For Tobi this wasn't about anything else than enjoying themselves. He knew that most of the time they'd be stuck on a tiny tin can, doing something they didn't want to do. As soon as the Calypso shipped out they would no doubt be piled on with misery, thrown somewhere in the belt where they didn't want to be.

That was the life of a UN Marine.

Most of the time he accepted, most of the time he could go quietly, but sometimes...sometimes he needed to blow off a little steam. He grooved on the dance floor, his head bobbing and a wide smile growing on his face.

"Relax!" He shouted to the others. "Just...relax!"

It was all he could think to say.

There was no getting out of it once Surraya took his hand. He wasn't going to snatch it back. It was easy to get lost in that fox like grin and the smooth wink. He was a bit tongue tied but did his best to respond. "I'm not worried!" he roared back over the boom of the music, giving off the opposite impression to what he wanted to convey.

Tobi was hitting the dancefloor with a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of energy, a good substitute for lack of grace or skill. "Easy for you to say!". He hated dancing. N ow maybe a slow waltz he could manage but the music here was a headmelting mix that had probably come straight from the Belt. Just pick a movement, keep it for 4 bars, then change it up, that's all he had to do. I look like a gobshite.

While Tobias may not have had much grace in his dance moves, Surraya most certainly did. Dancing in rhythm to the music came as natural to her as breathing, like it was a living part of her. The music from the Belt had always been alluring, the way the beats felt thumping in her chest, made losing herself in the moment all the easier.

Normally, she would have been able to move more, but the corset in her gown was quite unforgiving and restricted most of her movements. Instead of getting frustrated with the discomfort, she embraced it and found a way to work around it. What was the old saying? Restriction breeds creativity.

She smirked to herself at the thought, raising Krzy's hand up so that she could twirl beneath his arm before she released her hold on him. No sense on holding the man hostage. Even though he didn't want to be there, he was trying at the very least, which won him some points with the whimsical pilot. Tobias was so drunk that wondered if he even knew where he was.
